The Earl Gracious Band was founded by vocalist Katie Waterland and bassist Henry Earle while the pair were attending Portland State University’s Jazz studies program. The two connected on their mutual love for southern fried soul, funk, and blues– think Bonnie Raitt backed by The Meters. With a cast of fellow young musicians, The Earl Gracious Band starts the party on stage, before bringing the audience into the fold. The band is honest, singing about the highs and lows of life, while drawing people into community together.
